About the Neighbourhood

About the Community

Lakeshore Road runs through Port Credit, providing a major roadway into Toronto. Mississauga Transit provides public bus transportation along route 23 Lakeshore. A large bus depot is located at the Port Credit Go Station, connecting the area to the rest of Mississauga along multiple bus routes. Go Transit also provides commuter service at the Port Credit Go Station along the Lakeshore West train line.

Port Credit offers a wide variety of recreational activities and family entertainment. It is home to the Port Credit Library and the Port Credit Memorial Arena, Mississauga’s oldest surviving arena. From June to October, the Farmers Market offers fresh produce on Saturdays. Lakefront Promenade Marina, located just east of Port Credit, is one of the largest parks on Lake Ontario, and boasts first class boating facilities and outdoor dining. Port Credit is a pedestrian-friendly neighbourhood, with many scenic walking trails and numerous parks for residents to enjoy. Port Credit also offers a number of tourist attractions, housing a number of festivals and events throughout the year. These events include regular scenic historic tours, the Mississauga Waterfront Festival, the Port Credit In-Water Boat Show, and the Southside Shuffle, a Jazz and Blues festival held in the fall.

Schools in Port Credit

There are number of public schools serving Port Credit. For elementary education, Port Credit is served by Forest Avenue Public School, Riverside Public School, and Green Glade Sr. Public School. Port Credit Secondary School, which offers Regional Strings and Sci Tech programs, is the area’s high school. A number of nearby schools offer French Immersion programs for Port Credit students. For the Catholic school board, Port Credit is served by St. Luke Elementary School and St. Dominic Separate School. The two Catholic high schools for the area are Iona Catholic Secondary School and John Cabot Catholic Secondary School. Visit dpcdsb.org for more information.

Mentor College, a private school for Toronto and Mississauga for kindergarten through grade 12, is located in the east end of Port Credit.
