About the Neighbourhood

Clarkson is roughly bounded by the QEW in the north; Clarkson Road N and the Birchwood Creek in the east; Lake Ontario, Orr Road, and the CN railway in the south; and Meadowwood Park, Southdown Road, and Winston Churchill Boulevard in the west. While there is a wide variety of housing styles, most typical are suburban style detached and semi-detached homes. Clarkson homes tend to be older than those of other Mississauga neighbourhoods, with 67% of homes being more than 27 years old and 18% being older than 50 years old.

Clarkson’s older suburban homes boast large backyards and tree lined streets, and generally consist of bungalows, 2-story, and side-split homes. About the Community

Clarkson is conveniently located near the QEW, a major highway providing access to Highway 403 and Toronto. Mississauga Transit provides public transportation along numerous bus routes which all go to Clarkson Go Station. Go Transit provides commuter service along the Lakeshore West train line toward Toronto and westward toward Hamilton.

Clarkson is home to numerous restaurants, shopping venues, and other amenities. Nearby Sheridan Centre provides residents with access to various shops and services, and Downtown Toronto is only a short train ride away from Clarkson Go Station. Clarkson is also located near one of Mississauga’s major industrial sites. Two of Mississauga’s historic museums – the Bradley Museum and Benares House – are also located in Clarkson, allowing residents a peak at the life of early settlers. Clarkson Community Centre provides residents with a library, as well as various recreational and fitness activities, such as swimming, skating, and sports leagues. Schools in Clarkson

A number of public elementary schools serve the Clarkson community, such as Clarkson Public School, Hillcrest Middle School, Hillside Senior Public School, Owenwood Public School, and Willow Glen Public School. Clarkson Secondary School and Lorne Park Secondary School are the two public high schools serving Clarkson. From the Catholic school board, Clarkson is served by St. Christopher Separate School, St. Helen Separate School, and St. Louis Separate School. John Cabot Catholic Secondary School is the Clarkson community’s Catholic high school.
